I don\'t target a particular group and randomly pick one out of a magazine or travel guide, and in Bahrain it was AWA. I have had no regrets since joining in October 2008 because AWA has offered more than I could have asked for. Wonderful people, great events, diverse activities for kids and spouses are just some of the things that have kept us busy. I especially like the fact that it is open to all nationalities as I have met some incredible people from all parts of the world.”

In conversation with another friend I commented that I was thinking of joining AWA, and she went on to enumerate all the activities available. This left me somewhat shell shocked and intrigued at the same time. My first contact was the then Membership Secretary, who was most welcoming. At my first meeting I was approached by our indefatigable Community Service Chairperson to help at the Spring Craft Fair. I can truly say that I have made some tremendous friends through AWA, and have not been at a loose end since I joined.”
