Join AWA

The American Women’s Association of Bahrain was established in 1974, and we are proud to have celebrated our 35th Anniversary. The objectives of the AWA are to:

  • Unite women in Bahrain for friendship and cooperation.
  • Promote understanding amongst women of different nationalities.
  • Enhance the cultural and social communication among members.
  • Serve the community.

Open to women from any country, the AWA has more than 250 members. Women join AWA to meet other women, but also to give something back to the community. The AWA contributes to twenty- six non-profit organizations such as; Bahraini hospitals, adult homes, schools and educational centers, as well meeting the needs of the community as they arise. Some AWA members volunteer for at least eighty “woman” hours a month in five homes and centers for the mentally and physically handicapped.
